Building Better Teams: Industrial Psychology in Action at DEV Builders Group
People make every project possible. When our people are healthy, our work is stronger. This belief guides how we build.
We recently introduced a leading industrial psychologist to support our team. Her guidance will help us improve focus, safety, and communication. It will also promote well-being at home, where life happens.
This approach fits our identity as a high-end, premium, concierge, white-glove service. Caring for people keeps quality high and timelines steady.

What an Industrial Psychologist Does
Industrial-organizational psychology uses proven methods to improve work and well-being. It clarifies roles, aligns hiring with job needs, and makes feedback fair.
It builds manager habits that stick. It strengthens team communication and conflict resolution. Not only that, but it promotes psychological safety, so people can speak up.
It also supports stress management and healthy boundaries. Short surveys track progress and guide action.
Why It Matters for Construction Teams
Construction moves fast. Plans change. Field and office must stay aligned.
Guidance helps teams keep focus under pressure. It reduces rework. It supports safety and morale.
Support for personal life matters. When people sleep well and manage stress, they bring steady energy to the job. That energy shows up as fewer errors and cleaner handoffs.
Benefits at a glance
- Fewer communication breakdowns.
- Smoother trade handoffs and RFIs.
- Better decisions under tight deadlines.
- Lower turnover and higher engagement.
- Consistent client experience from bid to closeout.
How We Apply It
We partnered with Marimer Olazagasti to support our people. She is a Puerto Rico–based industrial-organizational psychologist and founder of Inside Out, who provides organizational consulting, executive coaching, workshops, and motivational talks for companies.
She holds a master’s in I-O Psychology from the University of Puerto Rico and has worked with well-known clients including Banco Popular de Puerto Rico and Marriott San Juan.
We start with private check-ins, so everyone has a safe place to talk. We train managers on clear feedback, recognition, and load balancing. Furthermore, we use short, anonymous pulses to track stress and focus areas.
We set simple routines for start-of-shift briefs and end-of-day debriefs while sharing tools for common personal challenges. The result is calmer days, clearer priorities, and better handoffs.
Confidentiality is central. Conversations stay private, and data is aggregated. People feel safe to share what’s real. Trust grows, participation stays high, and action plans are grounded in facts.
Outcomes for People and Projects
You can feel the difference on-site and in meetings. People share ideas and solve problems faster. Avoidable conflicts drop. Accountability is clear.
Teams focus on safety and quality. Onboarding is smoother. Retention rises. Schedules stabilize. Clients notice the consistency.
These gains support our promise of a high-end, premium, concierge, white glove service.
Leaders also gain clearer signals. They can staff critical paths earlier, remove blockers faster, and schedule training where it matters most. This prevents small issues from becoming costly delays. This protects budgets and keeps promises to clients.
Our Ongoing Commitment
Support continues after milestones. We refresh training each quarter. We review feedback with crews and adjust routines.
We provide referral options for personal counseling and community resources. Care for the person leads to safer sites, steadier schedules, and satisfied clients.
This is how we build: people first, projects next, excellence always.
